Help with PDF files
What are PDF files and why are they used ......??
PDF stands for 'Portable Document File' and the file extension is .pdf
They are used for a number of reasons but mostly because they are independant of the type of programme that the base document was created with. E.g. " text, spreadsheet, images, graphs or the like". No matter what operating system or software you are have, providing you have a PDF READER (up-to-date version) suited to your Operating System, then you should be able to read ANY pdf file. Having said that, thre are a couple of things that can cause you problems and hopefully, if you are experiencing problems then you might find the cuase and solution here.
Most Common Problem: It seems that computers using Windows Vista are suffering from some internal setting that is preventing the viewing of PDF files online. I have researched the problem via the internet resources and it is apparently very common with Vista but the reasons can be varied. This is not the place to explain or offer advice other than the easiest method of overcoming, below.
Solution: Instead of clicking the link to access the page or file, try right clicking the link, select SAVE the file, to a place on your HDD. (e.g. to somewhere like your desktop).
Once the file has been saved, try one of the following until you have success.
1. click on the file to open.
2. Right Click on the file and choose Open With and select one of the programs to open it. E.g. Adobe Reader, Your Browser.
3. Open your Reader Program (Adobe or Foxit or similar) and once running go to Menu>Open File > navigate to where the file has been saved (e.g. Desktop)
Another Common Cause: Another common cause of problems opening a PDF file is that your PDF Reader (Adobe etc) is not the latest version that meets the Standards that the Document has been produced with.
Solution: Make sure you have the latest updated version of your reader.
The latest version of Adobe Reader is: 9.3
NOTE: a Full version of Adobe Reader is 37 Mb to download. I use, prefer and recommend the Foxit Reader. 5 Mb download. (Also Free)

Other Possibilities. If you still can’t open the file, I can email the file to you and you open it or maybe a friend or using another computer can be a solution.
Make sure you also download the appropriate Waiver and/or Declaration forms.
